Happy June! It is finally the time of year to get outside, soak up some vitamin D, and spend time with friends & family. Here in Pittsburgh, this is like a really big deal. We don’t get much sunshine, so when we do, boooy do we celebrate.
I’ve had a few family get-together’s over the past month and in that time i’ve polled some of the best grillers in my life. If you read my about me page, it mentions the “grill master Uncle Alex.” Yeah, well, the grill master is generously sharing his top 5 tips for summer grilling and they may not be what you think.
5 Tips for Summer Grilling
- Whatever you do, do not life the top of the grill while cooking. Trust the temp & time and get to know your grill (know the hot spots on your grill)
- Use a meat thermometer & rely on your instruments.
- bonus tip: for salmon, cook at 350F. Filet should read 120F off the grill (cooked 4-6 minutes on each side
- Don’t put your meat on the grill unless it’s room temperature
- 1.5-2 hours on the countertop out of the fridge
- Let stand at least 10 minutes after grilling (or longer). Don’t cover the meat after you take it off.
- Oil the meat/fish for crispy sear before placing it on the grill.
